CALLUP Announces Enhanced Steering of Roaming (SoR) Solution for Optimal Control of Roaming Partners

CALLUP Announces Enhanced Steering of Roaming (SoR) Solution for Optimal Control of Roaming Partners Rosh Haayin, Israel, May 12, 2015. CALLUP, a provider of Value Added Services (VAS) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions for the telecom industry, today announced an enhanced Steering of Roaming (SoR) solution, enabling mobile carriers to control roaming partners optimally, and to ensure that their subscribers’ devices are connected to the carrier’s preferred partners while roaming. CALLUP SoR is a hybrid platform using a combination of SS7 and Over the Air (OTA) techniques, and can be installed in the cloud, as well as on the operator’s network. It supports all access technologies – 2G, 3G and 4G.

“Worldwide roaming is increasing and one of the vital tools in this sphere is steering of roaming,” said Alon Roth, CALLUP’s CEO. “Operators must have full real-time control of their roaming partners, to balance between customer satisfaction and the operator’s business needs. CALLUP’s enhanced SoR solution ensures such optimal control.” CALLUP SoR has up to 95% efficiency thanks to the combined OTA and SS7 steering capabilities. It benefits from both worlds - SS7 steering for maximum accuracy, and OTA for great user experience. CALLUP SoR is 100% compatible with all handsets, anti-steering proof and fully compatible with CALLUP SIM OTA. CALLUP can integrate its SoR platform to work with any existing OTA platform.

The advanced CALLUP SoR business logic allows carriers to determine lists of countries and networks in the PLMN (Public Land Mobile Network) file. The roaming lists are updated dynamically, putting the prioritized networks for the subscriber’s current zone in the first positions. CALLUP SoR business logic enables meeting new business needs, without the need for changes in the program code.

A sophisticated mechanism blocks customers from registering to foreign networks, avoiding accidental roaming near borders and being hit with bill shock. A Bill Shock Preventing STK (SIM Application Toolkit) applet allows the operator to provide real-time information about the costs to the subscriber. In situations where there’s no CAMEL (Customized Applications for Mobile networks Enhanced Logic) agreement, or real-time information cannot be achieved, the Bill Shock Preventing STK applet can monitor any outgoing call, count the time, query the server using USSD protocol, and display the cost in real time to subscriber. In addition, CALLUP SoR allows roaming only after SMS confirmation from subscribers about their tariff.

CALLUP SoR solution comprises a smart refresh STK applet for all card vendors, for reloading PLMN lists on the fly. In addition, the solution includes an interactive world map, with drill down statistics about each country.

Day 2, Cisco Live!

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
