Infinitely Virtual Introduces InfiniteProtect™ - Cloud Backup Solution Provides Unlimited File Retention; Adds Disaster Recovery Even for Those Not in the Cloud

Leading cloud server provider Infinitely Virtual today introduced InfiniteProtect™, the first cloud-based backup/disaster recovery solution to support file retention for an unlimited period of time - and to make disaster recovery capabilities available to users outside of Infinitely Virtual's hosted environment.

Aimed at existing and new users alike, InfiniteProtect enables hosted server customers to increase backup retention from the current 28 days to any duration the customer specifies. For those who choose not to move to the company's virtual environment, InfiniteProtect can serve as the backup option; if the local server goes offline, InfiniteProtect, mirroring the local disk, provides disaster recovery.

InfiniteProtect enables users to back up files safely and easily - and retain them indefinitely - from anywhere in the world, based on whatever schedule they prefer. The convenient, all-inclusive InfiniteProtect back-up scenario enables users to retain files for as long as they want, with pricing based entirely on compressed storage consumption.

The new solution integrates disaster recovery capabilities free of charge; users pay only when disaster strikes. If an entire office were to be affected, for example, InfiniteProtect would place an image on a virtual server and enable uses to access applications and files over the Internet. In that situation, the business would pay only for data that Infinitely Virtual stores.

"We're serious about disaster recovery and about backup," said Adam Stern, CEO, Infinitely Virtual. "With InfiniteProtect, existing customers can pay a little extra and receive substantially greater capabilities. For those who aren't yet in the cloud but need backup and disaster recovery, InfiniteProtect is an ideal alternative. Small and midsize businesses want a solution that is both affordable and matches up with their needs. They want to keep costs in check but be confident that they have a parachute. For small and midsize businesses, there's no simpler or more powerful way to retain and restore organizational data - and retrieve it quickly and securely in the event of a calamity - wherever they may be. Stacked up against the most popular solutions on the market, InfiniteProtect offers comprehensive backup/disaster recovery and it's a snap to customize."

As with all products from Infinitely Virtual, InfiniteProtect is 100 percent secure; data is protected with up to 448-bit Blowfish encryption. InfiniteProtect servers reside on Infinitely Virtual's exclusive Enterprise Virtualization Environment, at data centers in Los Angeles and Boston.

The InfiniteProtect Silver Plan, at $24.99 per month, includes a single server with 100GB of storage; an additional server is $4.99 monthly, and additional compressed storage runs $0.30/GB. The InfiniteProtect Gold Plan, at $59.99 per month, includes 200GB and an unlimited number of servers, with additional storage at $0.25/GB.

How Fiber Mountain Future-Proofs Your Data Center

By now you most likely noticed that one of the topics I focus on continually is the problem data centers face today in meeting bandwidth needs. Until now, data centers were forced to purchase fire-breathing, million-dollar core switches to handle the growing volume of traffic, a solution that is both expensive and inefficient.

A Look Back on ITEXPO Miami

Last week, the members of the Fiber Mountain™ team who managed to make it out of the northeast before the nasty winter weather hit (apologies to our tradeshow and networking guru, Keith, who was not so fortunate) headed to Miami for Technology Marketing Corporation’s (TMC) business technology event, ITEXPO.

Join Fiber Mountain at ITEXPO for a Special Keynote

Another Fiber Mountain™ milestone is almost upon us, and the excitement is palpable around our Cheshire, CT office.

At 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28 at ITEXPO Miami, I will be speaking with Rich Tehrani, CEO of Technology Marketing Corporation—host company for the biannual conference—in a “fireside chat” that will serve as one of the event’s keynotes.

From Las Vegas to Miami

Last August, a few members of the Fiber Mountain team, me included, flew to Las Vegas to take part in Technology Marketing Corporation’s ITEXPO conference at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. I gave a brief talk at one of the conference’s collocated events, Software Telco Congress—the NFV and SDN event—introducing the tenets of Fiber Mountain’s message for the first time anywhere.

Fiber Mountain and Facebook Fabric Networks: Similarities and Differences

If you’ve been keeping up with data center network news—and if you’re reading this blog I assume you have been—you’ve probably read about Facebook’s new data center fabric. The company recently deployed this new architecture in a data center in Iowa with the goal of increasing scalability and flexibility, both of which are critical for an organization that handles a tremendous amount of network traffic.
