FalconStor Highlights Software-defined Storage at DCD
The infrastructure systems for information and communications technologies (ICT) have been moving to more software-centric solutions. By focusing on software, operators can address the incredible demand they’ve been facing.
As a software-defined storage (SDS) solutions provider, FalconStor Software has been offering a converged data services software platform that is hardware agnostic to introduce more efficiency in the storage of data. The company is participating at the DCD Europe event taking place in London today, and tomorrow will be demonstrating its FreeStor SDS platform.
The FreeStor platform is an open solution designed to eliminate vendor lock-in so organizations can have the flexibility to choose the best software and hardware components for their particular need. This is an important feature in today’s highly evolving ICT ecosystem, because organizations need the flexibility and scalability to grow as needed quickly.
The company’s Vice President of Strategic Alliances, Seth Oxenhorn, addressed how CIOs and IT leaders can best implement new storage technologies and capabilities without the complexities, time and costs of traditional solutions. The FreeStor intelligent software-defined platform is also being showcased as to the role it will play as part of the European data center and cloud transformation currently taking place.
The FreeStor solution has a horizontal architecture that delivers increased efficiencies and lower cost for MSPs, Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) and IT managers. Whether organizations deploy cloud, hybrid cloud or flash storage, this platform has a software defined approach capable of modernizing legacy systems that are already in place with less disruption.
The technology also includes its Intelligent Abstraction solution, which makes sense of large volumes of stored data by providing access and unifying data services across entire storage infrastructures. As businesses continue to rely on their data for real-time services and insights, the information they have must be readily available. Intelligent Abstraction has an always-on availability and continuity so the data can be used to move, synchronize and protect their information across virtual and physical storage platforms.
"As the data center continues to transform, it is critical that we come together to discuss the best path toward overcoming the complexity these changes bring," said Gary Quinn, FalconStor President and CEO.
The management of data is one of the most important elements in today’s digital ecosystem. The FreeStor solution simplifies the management of data for seamless migration to, from and across legacy, modern and virtual storage environments from one pane of glass.
