Windstream Brings 100 Percent Fiber Kinetic Service to Sugar Land, Texas
Since Google made 100 percent fiber services available to customers, it has forced other providers to do the same. This has introduced faster Internet access and a wide range of communications and IT solutions available to individual consumers and businesses across the country. Windstream, a provider of advanced network communications, has created a next-generation service using its 100 percent fiber-backed network called Kinetic, which according to the company will be deploying in Sugar Land, TX. to more than 30,000 homes in the second quarter of 2016.
Windstream provides core transport solutions, along with bundled services, including broadband, security solutions, voice and digital TV to consumers, small businesses, enterprise organizations and carrier partners across the U.S. on a local and long-haul fiber-optic network spanning approximately 121,000 miles.
The company's Kinetic service is delivered on this network as a total entertainment package, which is offered along with its high speed Internet and phone services. Unlike the limitations of cable, the fiber-backed network Kinetic uses allows it to leverage the technology to deliver more options. This includes high definition (HD), Whole Home DVR that lets you watch and record up to four shows at once, pause and play live TV, wireless set top box, video-on-demand, and more.
The platform also makes entertainment available on any device. The Kinetic Go application – which you can download from Google Play or the App Store– allows users to watch their favorite shows, full length movies and live news and sports on tablets, smartphones, laptops and computers.
In addition to Kinetic, Windstream provides comprehensive ICT solutions for the education, healthcare, government, hospitality, financial services and retail industries with unified communications, networking and security, managed services, cloud and Advanced Application Reporting (AAR).
The AAR solution allows organizations to view the composition of Wide Area Network (WAN) traffic with enterprise-wide visibility with detailed traffic metrics reporting, identifying users or applications consuming resources and identifying congestion to determine network capacity.
As for the company, it continues to invest in expanding its network to deliver faster services. In January of this year, Windstream expanded its 100G network to NJFX’s Meet-Me Room at Tata Communications’ cable landing station. The new 230-Mile extension connected Windstream’s Ashburn, VA network core to NJFX’s carrier-neutral data center in Wall Township, NJ.
With 70 percent of the global Internet traffic going through Northern Virginia, Windstream has now become the only carrier that has four separate paths in and out of the area. And as it continues to increase its presence in more locations, the Kinetic entertainment service is sure to follow.
