Transforming Network Infrastructure Week in Review: OIF, ONF, Emerson & More
The digital transformation is at hand, and we in the industry get to enjoy a VIP view of network transformation firsthand. From SDN and NFV to the cloud and beyond, innovation has initiated a whole new software-based world. And, with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was: Time for the Week in Review!
erwin Inc, a player in the data management space has not only acquired Corso LTd. (an enterprise architecture firm) but also released two new products – the erwin Data Modeler and Corso Agile EA. erwin is now in a prime position to take advantage of market opportunity. Steve Anderson will fill you in HERE.
The Optical Networking Forum (OIF) and the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) have partnered to test and create an API for software-defined networking transport. Jonathan Sadler of Coriant and the OIF's technical committee vice chair and acting networking interoperability chair, explained “The APIs that are being tested create a new breed of applications. Like so many of the interoperability agreements developed by the OIF, demand from carriers continues to drive the technical direction of the forum.” TMC’s Paula Bernier has everything you need to know HERE.
Recently, Allied Market Research announced that it predicts the global hyperscale market to reach a valuation of more than $70 billion by 2020. Cloud-based applications are upping the ante for network performance, forcing network architects to put flexible, high-performing and reliable solutions in place. Laura Stotler’s complete analysis is HERE.
Frost & Sullivan has recognized Versa with a 2016 United States Frost & Sullivan Entrepreneur Company of the Year Award. Specifically, the firm earned recognition for its network function virtualization (NFV)-based approach to SD-WAN. TMC’s Alicia Young’s full insight is HERE.
The small data center is what one may find in a hospital or a smaller office building. It’s a room, much like the traditional data center, just smaller. And, while it may seem easier to manage struggles still exist. This week, Emerson unveiled a mobile app, iCOM CMS, which allows one to monitor environmental factors as well as alarms. TMC’s Steve Anderson delves deeper HERE.
