PacketFabric Augments Network Infrastructure with Coriant
The importance of having a network that runs at its peak can never really be understated; so much of what we do in life, both at work and play, demands a functioning network. So when PacketFabric went to augment its network infrastructure, currently a multi-terabit backbone operation, it needed something that could deliver still more power to an already potent setup. It thus turned to Coriant for its Groove G30 data center interconnect (DCI) platform, which would deliver impressive new options to the network.
With the Groove G30 in place, PacketFabric—which offers next-generation cloud networking services over Ethernet—now has the necessary network infrastructure to deliver a completely automated software defined networking (SDN) platform. Coriant's system effectively allows PacketFabric to deliver connectivity in the terabit range, privately and securely, allowing users better access to the PacketFabric network and the services contained therein.
Reports note that PacketFabric went with the Groove G30 thanks to its level of performance and its ability to be scaled up or down as needed, something that's vital for a company offering cloud-based systems. That kind of network infrastructure allows not only PacketFabric's customers to more readily buy what's needed—and not have to overbuy to cover potential upticks—and thus make PacketFabric a better buy for customers. The Groove G30- can deliver 3.2 Tbps of capacity, while still supporting dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) rate lines, making it not only a high-performance option but one that's cost-effective, delivering value to both ends of the spectrum.
PacketFabric chief technology officer Richard Steenbergen commented “A critical component underpinning the functionality of the PacketFabric platform is access to massive amounts of underlying optical transport capacity. As such, we carefully evaluated the latest state-of-the-art DWDM infrastructure offerings from a number of different sources. The Coriant Groove G30 DCI Platform delivered far and away the best scalability, density, and power efficiency in the market, as well as the SDN capabilities necessary to support our next-generation automated infrastructure.”
In the end, it's all about the best value in network infrastructure, and Coriant undeniably delivered for PacketFabric. With the kind of power the Groove G30 could offer, PacketFabric could offer its own customers more value, and thus increase the chances that said customers would stick around going forward. Here, PacketFabric's decision to go with Coriant was the kind of move that would help keep PacketFabric as a valued service provider, and that in turn gives Coriant extra ammunition when attempting to make sales.
Coriant's system made PacketFabric better, and gave Coriant a chance to improve its own fortunes. That's the kind of value that every product should strive to add, especially when dealing with network infrastructure.
