Transforming Network Infrastructure Week in Review: HPE, Big Switch, InterDigital & More
Digital transformation has taken hold, driving a new era of innovation in the data center and beyond. Starting with the transformation of network infrastructure and ending with the user experience, change is in the air. And with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was in network transformation news: Time for the Week in Review!
This week, InterDigital announced the successful testing of mobile edge computing 5G network architecture. The mobile technology research and development company calls this an industry first, with the trial based on new IP networking technology assumed to comprise part of the 5G network architecture. Dirk Trossen, Senior Principal Engineer, InterDigital explains, “This trial showcases the solutions, developed under the leadership of InterDigital, that can deliver those performance improvements under realistic conditions and with real users fulfilling the highest criteria of trials in the 5G world.” Complete coverage is HERE.
Also in the news, Decision Lab and Plexxi unveiled a partnership where the two companies are putting heads together to provide real-time analytics for the Plexxi network fabric. Once inserted into an analytics dashboard, users gain invaluable insight into their data center networks. “Today's distributed, scale-out applications and hyperconverged infrastructures are placing new challenges on the network in ensuring the performance and integrity of the east/west workload traffic that is the heartbeat of server-to-server communication and synchronization,” Plexxi noted.
