Idea Turns to ECI for DWDM
Emerging markets are building momentum for technology providers. From the date center and c-suite, to the conference room and contact center, digital transformation is driving change – and demand. Take India for example, this Asian nation and its more than one billion citizens are demanding more, and one of India’s top telecoms is modernizing its network in response.
This week, Idea Cellular selected ECI to upgrade its optical network. The third largest mobile operator in India and sixth largest in the world, is answering customer demand for increased bandwidth and data with the initiative.
The key element to the project is ECI’s DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing), as once deployed it will ensure optimal network performance, leveraging existing infrastructure and future-proofing the network for additional enhancements. Idea is now ready to support the growing mobile user base, and the quickly mounting mobile data demand.
"ECI is committed to providing scalable, future-proof solutions that significantly benefit telecom operators worldwide," noted President of ECI India, Sajeet Shivashankaran. "Our products and solutions, including the access DWDM platform, provide the necessary flexibility to expand and grow with the changing needs of our customers."
Digital India is an initiative pushing network modernization in order to deliver high-speed internet to all points of the country. By Idea deploying the ECI solution it meets its commitment to the program, and is positioned to prosper in a “digital India.”
"Idea is a pan-India wireless broadband operator offering high speed mobile internet and digital content services to our customers. ECI has long been our partner and has supported us in rolling out 3G/4G networks with optimum solutions. We will be able to enhance capacity and meet the ever-growing demand for data with the new solution," explained Mr. Anil Tandan, Chief Technology Officer, Idea Cellular.
Digital transformation is something happening all around us, incubating innovation and urging network modernization.
