Transforming Network Infrastructure Week in Review: Corianrt, prpl, SDN & More
From optical to SDN, the cloud and virtualization, the data center is experiencing a renaissance of innovation. Improving efficiency, security, performance and more, it is an exciting time to have a front row seat to the transformation of network infrastructure. With the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was in network transformation: Time for the Week in Review!
This week Coriant took on the project of overhauling the Turkmenistan national backbone network. The Ministry of Communications in the Central Asian nation recognized the need to upgrade the system in place, to provide local businesses, government agencies as well as residential users improved bandwidth and connectivity. Steve Anderson’s complete report is HERE.
Also in the news, the prpl Foundation announced the creation of its first Carrier Interest Group (CIG). The group will bring together prpl consumers, enterprise as well as other telecommunications companies and will address communications regulations. Casey Houser has everything you need to know HERE.
SDN is storming on the scene, and, as a result of its success, is transforming networking with Networking as a Service (NaaS). NaaS promises to disrupt network provisioning, management and more. It is likely that many will take a wait and see approach to this new technology, but the benefits are clear – scalability, flexibility and cost savings. The full story is HERE.
Did somebody say SDN? Recently, Cologix selected Megaport’s portfolio of SDN nodes to improve flexibility in its Toronto and Dallas data centers. This round of testing should provide the proof needed to expand the firm’s SDN deployment. Steve Anderson’s complete analysis is HERE.
Remember to stop by early and often for all things network transformation. See you next week!
