Aricent, Coriant Take Aim at NFV Market
As the hotbed that is Mobile World Congress (MWC) marches on, the announcements of innovation continue. In terms of the network, things are headed in a distinctly software-defined direction, allowing the ease of automation to power revenue opportunities for years to come.
Aricent announced a partnership with packet-optical, IP and SDN solution provider Coriant. The result: the integration of the Aricent NFV Management and Orchestration (MANO) framework to the support Coriant’s Transcend SDN Solution, providing network operators end-to-end NFV/SDN controls. The pairing is taking aim at a market pegged for explosive growth in the coming years.
With Coriant’s Transcend SDN Solution in place, network operators are able manage a complex network software-defined array with a multi-layer, open, programmable and automated application environment – delivering the future opportunity of providing low-latency connectivity to the “smart” space and capitalizing on the IoT opportunity.
“This partnership reinforces Coriant's commitment to open networking and industry collaboration to enhance its customers' service delivery capabilities in multi-vendor, multi-layer, and multi-domain environments. Aricent's MANO framework is a perfect example of industry innovation in SDN-enabled on-demand service orchestration and automated provisioning in a multi-vendor optical networking environment,” said Filipe Caetano, Vice President, Product Management, Coriant.
The future of connectivity is about partnerships. One could, in fact, say that is true about the present, as this age of digital transformation is driving wholesale change. With the IHS projecting the global NFV market to surpass $15 billion by 2020, there’s little time to waste.
Caetano added, "We're elated to partner with Aricent in this important technology journey and help advance the state of cloud applications drive increased demand for on-demand capabilities."
