Legrand Lands Partner in Fiber Mountain
As 2016 continues to serve as a banner year for innovation, from the data center to the boardroom the software defined revolution is a very real thing. A firm riding the wave of this innovation is Fiber Mountain, celebrating a banner year itself. Starting in January with the announcement of the CrossCage Plus at ITEXPO – which won best in show – then in April The Glass Core Company was named a finalist for the Best of Interop Award, an honor in its own right. When summer was heating up here in the United States, Fiber Mountain was named a “Cool Vendor” by Gartner, and now another major announcement.
Today, Fiber Mountain announced a new partnership with Legrand. Pairing the infrastructure connectivity leader with an innovator in applying software to manage fiber is a major coup for each side. For Legrand, it adds the bleeding edge in software-defined data center solutions, and on the flip side, Fiber Mountain is able to augment the presence of its Glass Core intelligent optical cross connect and connectivity products.
“We are excited to partner with Legrand’s Data Communication’s team to deliver on our mission to simplify network infrastructure through Fiber Mountain’s Glass Core.” said M. H. Raza, CEO of Fiber Mountain. “Our Glass Core technology is a virtual connectivity fabric that enables a dynamic software-managed layer 1 network which when used in conjunction with switch and router networks provide the highest level of network control.”
In specific, Legrand will integrate the Glass Core solution into its connected infrastructure solutions and managed fiber connections to round out
its offerings. The benefits of moving in a software-defined direction are well known, so I won’t run down the list, but I will say that LeGrand is of the belief it needed to explore this further to provide customers with best in breed solutions at a reduced labor, financial and time cost.
“We are excited to partner with such a forward-thinking and innovative company as Fiber Mountain and to be able to offer our customers a software managed fiber-based solution coupled with Legrand’s extensive range of cabling and connectivity solutions.” said Rudolph Montgelas, Senior Technologist, Legrand.
I’ve been familiar with Fiber Mountain for some time, and can say with certainty it exists on the fore of the software defined exploration taking place. And partnering with a company like Legrand opens the door a bit wider to a MEGA market. I feel like this may be the beginning of something big. To recall one of my favorite movie lines, “I think this is the beginning of beautiful friendship.”
